Geoquip Ltd, the UK’s foremost perimeter intrusion detection specialists, have recently passed a series of stringent trials in order to become approved as a supplier of perimeter systems to the Defence Forces. The trials conducted by them spanned a period of 3 years and exhaustively tested the Defensor microphonic cable system on a 1km military test site comprising 12 separate detection zones.
PRISON - who should be sent there and what it is for - is a contentious issue. Prison security is not. It is probably the only aspect of the prison service which attracts any large degree of unanimity, quite simply because whatever else a prison should be, first and foremost it has to be secure.
Geoquip's combined Defensor and CentrAlert system has proved itself against strong competition from a US system with a point ID feature in a trial carried out by the Special Security Group (SSG), once again showing that performance and reliability are still the most important features for a long term investment in perimeter security. 
March 2006 saw Geoquip Worldwide secure a large contract for the protection of a 15Km airport perimeter in one of their major export markets.
The British Oxygen Company (BOC) site at Grimsby was protected using a fence-mounted co-axial cable detection system. Due to the location of the site, it was found that this caused the co-axial system to give a very high level of false alarms. The solution to this unacceptable situation was provided by the Geoquip Defensor System which provides high level security allied to a very low false alarm rate. 
For over a decade, Geoquip has been the leader in the design and manufacture of both external fencemounted and internal perimeter detection systems. Based on the world-beating and patented microphonic cable sensor “Guardwire”, Impactor is fixed directly to the wall surface.
